“Did you know? BirthWays is offering a facilitated support group for new moms and their babies -(usually babies rage in age from 2 weeks to 4 months). *Thursdays August 29-September 26th from 1:30-3:00* we will gather at the BirthWays space to take some time to give back to yourself and share the intensity and joys of new motherhood with other moms.

This 6 week series will cover such topics as: sharing birth stories,
finding time to heal your body and mind, feeding your baby, adjusting to your new identity as a parent, trusting yourself enough to know when not to listen to another piece of “good” advice, navigating changing relationships with partners and friends, going out with your baby, preparing to go back to work or stay home with baby, sleep… what sleep? And most importantly, realizing that you are not alone in this journey.

Facilitated by Stacia Biltekoff, BirthWays president, Postpartum Doula and most importantly…a mom!

For a lot of moms this is an opportunity to practice getting out of the
house and feeding and caring for your babies in public in a safe space.

Moms from previous groups are still getting together and finding community with each other to enjoy their toddlers and preschoolers.

Sunday, July 21st, 10am – Noon

This class will teach you the basics and get you well on your way to a diaper free baby!

Taught by Simona. Simona is mom to a 6 year old daughter, a birth and postpartum doula, and a Diaper Free Baby Mentor. Prior to becoming a mom she spent 30 years caring for babies and children working on her “baby whispering” skills. She first discovered Elimination Communication (EC) when she was pregnant and started practicing EC when her daughter was 1 week old. The simplicity and ease of this method of pottying made her wonder why everyone in the world wasn’t doing it and so she began teaching it to friends and clients. From there it was an easy jump to teaching classes. Simona also loves gardening, spending time in the outdoors, reading, and spending time with her community of friends.

The Fathers’ Forum Programs:

“Becoming a Father” making the transition to parenthood.

We live in a society and culture that does little to prepare us as men for the important experience of childbirth and the transition to parenthood. This two hour class is designed to help men understand how the process of childbirth and becoming a father may effect them. Come join us in this class as we discuss the emotional, and social adjustments men experience in the process of becoming a father.

At the conclusion of this class the expectant father should:
(1) be more confident about the childbirth experience
(2) feel reduced stress and anxiety about becoming a father.

This 2 1/2 hour class is offered on Saturday, July 13, 1-3:30 p.m. in Berkeley.

Cost is $35 (sliding scale for those in need)
