Parent Support Group Berkeley

Not Just For Moms Parent Support Group

Stacia Biltekoff’s will be offering her support groups at the JCC East Bay. (This is not a Jewish group, the JCC is just the venue.)

The 6 week facilitated group is open to parents of all genders and their babies (0-4 months old). It takes place Tuesdays from 2:00-3:30 and runs from January 22nd to February 26th, 2019.

Each group starts with a check in and then go with the topics that arise from the group. Everything from green poop (is that normal??) to the shifting relationships we have with ourselves, our parents, our partners, our friends and our careers gets discussed.

Stacia facilitates the parents to meet outside of group time as well to ensure that community is formed.

Many past groups are still getting together years later!

Monthly Mom Meetup in the Laurel District Oakland

Monthly Mom Meetup in the Laurel District Oakland

I got to meet, Laura, the owner and new mom of Mischief in the Laurel District of Oakland.

Not only is it the cutest place for finding that perfect gift (mostly local artists!), she has opened her doors to invite new moms to gather at the shop!

Years ago, I would have jumped up and down to have such a place to meet in my neighborhood. Now I get excited knowing that other new moms will have this wonderful opportunity.

Check out their website for more details, but know that this months meet up has an optional craft: baby’s first ornament making. December 20, from 2-4 p.m.

Monthly meet ups are scheduled for the third Thursday of every month from 2-4 p.m. (next one January 17).

Enjoy the support and getting to know others in the ‘hood!

Symmetry Prenatal Yoga class starting

New at Symmetry Yoga – Prenatal Yoga!

We’re so excited to be offering our first ever prenatal yoga class!

Starting Thursday, 9/20 (6:15-7:30pm), we will be offering an on-going weekly class with Daniella Morales.

This class is open to all expectant mothers and postnatal students regardless of previous yoga experience. The class begins with a community check in to see how mamas are feeling. After, we will start with a gentle warm up followed by a flow of standing and floor poses all while connecting movements with breathe. These postures strengthen the areas required for labor and also help soften any tension that often builds during pregnancy. Here, postnatal students will be able to add in gentle twists and stronger transitions. Class ends with a guided meditation and savasana helping to rebalance energies and leave feeling more relaxed.

Daniella has been a birth/ postpartum doula and prenatal yoga teacher since 2012. She has helped mamas delivering babies all over the Bay Area from all walks of life. Daniella is passionate about creating community within pregnant and postnatal people. She feels tribal support is crucial in having a well balanced pregnancy and postnatal life.

BirthWays New Moms Group Berkeley

BirthWays New Moms Group in Berkeley starts May 1.

From the facilitator, Stacia:

“BirthWays is offering a support group for moms that starts Tuesday May 1st that still has a few spots left. It is a 6 week facilitated group for moms and their babies (0-4 months old) from 2:00-3:30 that runs Tuesdays from May 1st to June 5th.

We start each group with a check in and then go with the topics that arise from the group. Everything from green poop (is that normal??) to the shifting relationships we have with ourselves, our parents, our partners, our friends and our careers gets discussed.

I encourage the moms to meet outside of group time to ensure bonds -many groups stay in touch and have get togethers to celebrate their babies birthdays for years to come.

For many moms it is one of the first places they feel safe venturing out and caring for their babies on their own.

The group is led by me, Stacia Biltekoff. I am a former birth and postpartum doula, currently working on a Masters in Counseling Psychology and single mom to a seventeen year old. I’ve been in the field for over 15 years and have served more than 500 women and their families.”
