Elimination Communication–want to learn more?

I recently got to talk with local Elimination Communication teacher, Simona, learn about her background and desire to spread the word about EC. Look for her classes in the Bay Area and beyond. If you’d like more information, please contact her with any questions or to sign up for a class.

Here is more about Simona and her work:

Did you know your baby has the natural instinct and ability to ‘go to the bathroom’ in a potty?
Hello! My name is Simona Fino and I am an Elimination Communication Consultant, Certified Doula and Mother. When I was pregnant I learned a secret women around the world have known for centuries. Pottying babies is easy and natural! Babies, like many other tiny animals, are born with the instinct not to soil themselves. Like eating/feeding babies just need a bit of help until they can do it on their own. Generations before us practiced it and parents in many countries around the world currently practice it. In fact, 50% of the world’s babies are potty trained by 1 year of age!

Elimination Communication (EC) is a gentle way of helping your baby use a potty instead of their diaper. It can be done if you work full-time and have caregivers or whether you use disposable or cloth diapers.

Happy Babies!  Happy Parents!

Healthier  – babies aren’t sitting in their own waste = no diaper rash!

Calmer  – babies needs are being met immediately so they are less fussy

Happier – a deeper connection between you and baby is developed

Breastfeeding Protects Children from Asthma

The study of 1,100 babies showed that exclusive breastfeeding for at least 3
months or longer in children with eczema or asthma was associated with
significantly reduced asthma symptoms. The study showed this effect persisted in
children at 4, 5, and 6 years of […]

BirthWays New Mom’s Group begins soon

Stacia will be starting a new Support Group for New Moms at BirthWays on March first.
It will be 6 Fridays from 12:30-2:00pm.

Here is the description from the website:

Take some time to give back to yourself and share the intensity and joys of
new motherhood with other moms. This 6 week facilitated series will cover
such topics as: sharing birth stories, finding time to heal your body and
mind, feeding your baby, adjusting to your new identity as a parent,
trusting yourself enough to know when not to listen to another piece of
“good” advice, navigating changing relationships with partners and friends,
going out with your baby, preparing to go back to work or stay home with
baby, sleep… what sleep? And most importantly, realizing that you are not
alone in this journey.

Nursing in Public Hotline, from Best for Babes

Moms continue to report harassment when breastfeeding in public.

The recently-launched Best for Babes Nursing in Public (NIP) hotline is the place to report and record NIP incidents. When breastfeeding moms call 855-NIP-FREE (855-647-3733), hotline volunteers work to help them understand their rights, navigate through the situation, and suggest ways to approach the offending institution.
